Downtown Pittsburgh’s First Pet Salon– Coming Soon!

Written by Elisabeth Kay

Being a pet owner is a commitment, but a wonderful one. One of the biggest decisions as a pet owner is choosing the right groomer for your furry friend. The lack of options in the Golden Triangle makes this much more difficult– but not anymore. The Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA)  is proud to have played the leading role in bringing Keeta’s Pet Salon into the heart of the Golden Triangle. From recruiting to coordinating logistics to finding the perfect space for them, DNA is serving the residential community by filling a downtown necessity.

The opening of this pet salon is a key part and an amazing start to DNA’s Liberty Avenue Project. This is just one of the local businesses that DNA is bringing downtown to revitalize Liberty Avenue and make it a welcoming and efficient space for downtown residents and newcomers. DNA’s involvement has been extremely hands-on since the beginning of this process, as we worked to guide Keeta’s through every step of this transition and into a space that suits them and their business perfectly. We’re so excited for them to become an asset of downtown.

Keeta’s Pet Salon was born in Squirrel Hill as a family-run, women and black owned business. Co-Owner Monique recalls naming the business after their late Shar Pei, Keeta: “As she aged, she faced significant health challenges, and we were blessed to find amazing support for her. We wanted to pay that forward and support all pets in the best way we can.” And that’s what the mission of their business is– providing pet owners with solace knowing that their pets are left in caring hands during their grooming process.

They stand out from other groomers as they offer one on one grooming services, just like a haircut for yourself. The appointment will start with a consultation to ensure that the cut and groomer are just right for your pet. The one on one care builds a bond with your pet and groomer, and Monique recalls pets recognizing their groomers outside of the salon, before the pet owners even recognize them.

DNA welcomes Keeta’s Pet Salon into the Golden Triangle, and please continue to read The Downtowner for more announcements in the coming weeks!
