About the Event
An unforgettable evening of music and ambiance was brought to life by Candlelight Crescendo during their Summer Soundtrack, presented by the Downtown Neighbors Alliance. On June 20th, the Highmark Theater at Pittsburgh Playhouse glowed with the light of 1000+ candles, setting the stage for an enchanting night of live string performances.
This inaugural concert featured the incredible City Six Strings, a classically trained ensemble that blended the elegance of string music with the energy of classic rock. The result was a mesmerizing fusion of sound that transported and inspired.
This one-of-a-kind event in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle was not to be missed. Whether guests were longtime music lovers or simply looking for a unique night out, Candlelight Crescendo delivered a truly magical experience.

City Six Strings was founded in 2020 by violinist Sarah Becker and cellist McKinley Glasser. Since then, the group has grown from a string duo to a collective of 200+ string players able to accommodate performances at hundreds of events per year in the Midwest and surrounding areas.
The musicians of City Six Strings are classically trained, holding degrees and certificates from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Carnegie Mellon University, and more. Members have appeared with acts from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to Machine Gun Kelly to Michael Bublé on stages from Carnegie Hall to London’s West End.
As a group, City Six Strings is proud to be a favorite performer of various venues and organizations throughout the region, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Ohio Common Pleas Judges' Association. Passionate about making classical music more accessible, the group also holds annual free popup concerts around Ohio to give back to the community and spread joy through music. Additionally, they’ve cultivated an enthusiastic social media following across various platforms, extending their reach from nationwide to worldwide.
Though they specialize in bespoke private performances, they are committed to sharing string music – of any genre – with the world.

A dynamic and versatile group, performing at 200-300 events annually across Ohio, Pittsburgh, and the surrounding areas. Best known for their work at weddings, City Six Strings is equally adept at playing for a wide variety of events, from fundraisers and corporate gatherings to house parties and soon to be added to their repertoire, candlelight concerts.
