Through our projects & programs we hope to advance the greater downtown area by transforming Pittsburgh into a unique urban village that is different from them all.
OUR CURRENT PROJECTS
PITTSBURGH DNA-
LIVING WELL INITIATIVE
With the cooperation of individuals, policy makers and employers, the Living Well Initiative will help Downtowners live longer, healthier lives and attract newcomers in the future with more nutritious food choices at restaurants and grocery stores, higher levels of community engagement and better infrastructure for people to walk and bike to work.

DOWNTOWN EATS!
Enjoy three unique dining experiences in 2024 with Downtown Eats! With this dining club, DNA provides unique dining experience for people who enjoy the camaraderie of dining, supporting local restaurants and meeting new community members.

ALLEYWAY MAKEOVERS
In partnership with Point Park University, this project aims to clean up Pittsburgh’s alleyways and beautifully transform them. The project will reflect the talent of local students from schools such as Point Park University and Duquesne University and will be turned into a contest. Alleyway Makeovers has “multiple positive effects” which include deterring drug use and increasing tourism.

STOREFRONT RECRUITMENT
Along with attracting entrepreneurs with art, DNA hired a specialized commercial real estate agent to help recruit businesses both regionally and from other parts of Pittsburgh and nationally. The plan is to transform downtown to a unique urban community by focusing on the type of businesses that thrive in a downtown setting.

OUTDOOR PROGRAMMING
Working with the PDP, DNA will program outdoor summer events in conjunction for the Cultural Trust in The Oasis, Katz Plaza and The Backyard. We will also program events in Mellon Square and work with The Pittsburgh Playhouse Theater on their indoor/outdoor program.

NIGHT-TIME SHOPPING DISTRICT
The creation of a night time shopping district aims to create a downtown which will showcase the city’s eclectic mix of boutiques in the evening.

DOWNTOWN DOG PARK
The Pittsburgh Downtown Dog Park opened officially in January 2017. Now, Downtown pups and their humans can use and enjoy a dog park in the Golden Triangle. Located at the base of the Rachel Carson Bridge, this park is the first off-leash park in the area and allows dogs to explore and roam free in the fenced-in space.
The space is cozy, and is restricted to dogs that weigh less than 30 pounds. Owners are expected to clean up after their pooch and keep an eye on their dog’s behavior while in the park.

PITTSBURGH FASHION WEEK
For six years, Downtown Neighbors Alliance organized and hosted Pittsburgh Fashion Week each September with a week-long lineup of events supporting the downtown Pittsburgh fashion scene. The PGHFW Runway show was the main event, drawing large crowds and selling out quickly. This project supported the downtown Pittsburgh fashion community by spotlighting the talent and creativity of local designers.

MUSIC CITY DOWNTOWN
Music City Downtown created an ongoing and vibrant music scene in downtown Pittsburgh by connecting performers and venues together.
