Pride month is not looked over in downtown Pittsburgh, and it started off with one huge party. On Saturday and Sunday, downtown Pittsburgh and its North Shore welcomed hundreds of vendors to make this an unforgettable weekend to start off a month full of love. 

Pride month is nearly upon us and Pittsburgh is not shy of a celebration. The weekend of Friday May 30th through Sunday June 1st commemorates Pride in Pittsburgh at this year's annual Pittsburgh Pride Festival. The weekend includes a 3-day lineup of musicians, dancers, drag performers, speakers and more, ending with a march and parade.

From the iconic Pittsburgh sports mascots decked out in rainbow gear to the gigantic Pride flag making its way through Downtown to the North Shore and the hoards of people following it, it was clear that the city came out to support the LGBTQ+ community. But Pittsburgh’s Pride parade wasn’t always this dynamic.

As is evident by the 85,000 people at the Pride parade at the beginning of the month, Pittsburgh has a vibrant LGBTQ+ and ally community. Here are 5 great LGBTQ+ businesses to support this Pride month and all throughout the year.

Reel Q, a Pittsburgh nonprofit aimed at promoting LGBTQ+ films, holds an annual film festival in the city that could easily rival famous movie festivals like South by Southwest and the Tribeca Film Festival.

With Pride Month starting on Wednesday, Pittsburgh is throwing its annual Pride March and Parade this weekend. Now in its fiftieth year of celebrating the city’s LGBTQ+ community, it is bigger and better than ever.
