Introducing Acoustic Tuesdays: Liberty Magic’s and DNA’s New Music Series
Written by Arlo Grey MacFarland
Starting at 7 p.m. on October 7, 2025, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) presents Acoustic Tuesdays, a weekly concert series dedicated to promoting small artists around the Pittsburgh area. Hosted at Liberty Magic, located at 811 Liberty Ave., the concert series will give a platform for two acoustic artists weekly, each playing a one-hour set.
In an intimate theatre, seating just 66, Acoustic Tuesdays aims to bring the audience closer to both the artist and the music. Without the need for speakers or microphones, the space creates an environment fostering a connection to the art.
“I believe there’s a lot of musical talent in Pittsburgh that sometimes needs a venue to showcase their talent. We are doing this to bring the artist exposure, and to bring another music amenity downtown,” said John Valentine.
Acoustic Tuesdays are a part of the Liberty Avenue Project, an initiative dedicated to rebuilding the downtown area and seeing the revival of a long neglected, yet culturally valuable, area of Pittsburgh. The DNA is working to bring music, arts, food, and stores to the area connecting the Strip District to the Cultural District. By making this an accessible outing, it gives people a chance to explore the downtown area alongside uplifting local artists of whom they have never heard before.
The first concert, on Tuesday, October 9, features singer-songwriter and Duquesne graduate Ellen Perkins and also singer-songwriter Sarah Fair.
