Candlelight Crescendo is Back!
Written by Amanda Buchman
Witness a lively symphonic performance in a glowing performance center at the second and highly anticipated Candlelight Crescendo, presented by the Downtown Neighbors Alliance. The event, featuring the band Cello Fury, will take place on November 1st, 2025 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theater.
The first Candlelight Crescendo on June 20 featured the classically trained ensemble City Six Strings, who enchanted the Highmark Theater with their Summer Soundtrack surrounded by the warm light of over a thousand candles. If you missed out on this magical night, you can watch it on our website.

Cello Fury
Founded by Nicole Myers and Simon Cummings, Cello Fury combines the melodic sounds of strings with energetic rock beats. The band, comprised of three cellists and one drummer, has released three albums of original music thus far and performed for audiences of tens of thousands of people.
Between live shows, music education workshops, and touring, the musicians of Cello Fury have been busy. Maybe you saw them perform at an NFL halftime show, or play the national anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They’re also known for their annual “Cello Fury and Friends” Holiday Show, which became tradition in 2018.

As a way to give back to the community, the band performs for thousands of young people each year, inspiring young musicians across the mid-Atlantic. Their programs include outreach through “Young Audiences of New Jersey and Eastern PA” as well as “Cello Fury Rock Camp,” an alternative strings camp lasting four weeks each summer.
The group’s members are composers as well as musicians, and have collaborated with artists across genres. Their passion for making connections through music has made a lasting impact not just in Pittsburgh, but around the world.
We can’t wait to bring back the magic of Candlelight Crescendo to the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theater. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event!
