Cellos, Classic Rock, and Candlelight

Less than a month away, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) is hosting its second Candlelight Crescendo concert on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 8 p.m.. Located at the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theater at 350 Forbes Ave., the group Cello Fury will feature its signature blend of rock and classical string technique.

Cello Fury, founded by Nicole Myers & Simon Cummings has been releasing music as a group for nearly 15 years, with notable performances at NFL halftime shows, and outreach events for young string instrumentalists around the region.

Their music is not what you would expect from a string ensemble. Composed of 3 cellists, Cello Fury combines modern, mystical sounds with rock-inspired beats.

Sitting down and listening to their music feels like you’ve been dropped in the middle of an oasis. The strings take you on a journey through both their music and this fantasy world, and every song delivers something different.

This magical feel to Cello Fury’s music is a perfect re-introduction to our Candlelight Crescendo series. The group will bring you a mix of classic rock hits from groups like the Beatles, and their own original music, from an album the group released back in April.

Not only does Cello Fury have an extensive discography of music, but they are also known for their outreach for young musicians. The group hosts the yearly Cello Fury Rock Camp, designed to teach young string instrumentalists alternative ways of exploring their instruments through rock.

Combined with the light of a thousand candles, this concert is sure to bring you back in time in a beautiful setting. You can purchase tickets here, with student, senior, and group discounts available. Get them now so you have a reserved seat for the magical show!
