Transcend Your Daily Grind: Start Your Morning Right at The Coffee Village

Written by Viktoria Sako

The Coffee Village is a local, Pittsburgh-owned coffee shop chain, whose shops scatter from Downtown Pittsburgh to Sewickley. The Coffee Village hopes their customers taste and understand their commitment to the brew by emphasizing the journey the bean takes– from plant to cup.

The coffee plant is first harvested abroad and then flown into The Coffee Villages roastery, just outside Pittsburgh. Each and every bean eventually roasted and brewed into the silky espresso we all know and love. Their website details the harvesting process, in which farmers handpick green and red coffee fruits from blossoming plants, which are then locally roasted and brewed for you to enjoy.

Soak in the smell of their delicious, hand sourced, bean blends and grab a 12 ounce bag of coffee in-store or by ordering online– you can keep the bean whole or have it grinded for espresso, drip, or french press coffee. Although you can get the beans to-go, each Coffee Village location offers spacious seating and a welcoming environment for Pittsburghers to connect, sip, and savor.

In the coming months, The Coffee Village is planning to participate in upcoming summer events and pop-ups, looking to increase their production by acquiring a smaller roaster, dedicated to organic beans. With more machines, The Coffee Village can ensure their blends are kept local and fresh, and continue to serve other independent coffee shops around Pittsburgh. Discover how they roast their beans in this behind the scenes video from one of their master roasters!

Launching in time for the summer, The Coffee Village is highlighting new food and drink items, including lunch and breakfast wraps and sandwiches, cooling refreshers, iced matcha lattes (with cold foam!), and in-house baked scones.

Each month, The Coffee Village releases a special drink menu, each location’s menu being individualized to that specific shop and based on customer feedback. Make sure to catch the last of May’s specialty menu! At the location on Liberty Ave, some featured drinks this month were a Vanilla and Toasted Marshmallow Latte and an Iced Matcha Latte with Pistachio Cold Foam. Check out the current month’s specials at a downtown location near you!
