Comedy on Wheels: Pittsburgh’s Only Form of “Transportainment”
Written by Madeline Milchman
The Burgh Bus has coined a new word, “transportainment,” a combination of “transportation” and “entertainment.” The made-up word is an exact description of the one-of-a-kind tour you get on a Burgh Bus.
If you're a Pittsburgh local, you’ve probably seen the bus around town. Its black and gold, labeled with large yellow lettering and covered in symbols Pittsburghers are familiar with, like a golden bridge and a football. Plus, the loud laughter that erupts from the windowless bus is hard to miss.
For $40 a person, you’ll laugh, play games, enjoy music, and maybe even get a little buzzed while traveling through the city of Pittsburgh. The tour is led by local comedians and allows riders to BYOB (bring your own booze).

Tours this summer are most weekends, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7 pm and 9 pm. Pickup and dropoff is located on Penn Ave at the intersection of 10th Street. The tour is an hour and forty-five minutes, including one bathroom break.
The bus also shuttles to and from Star Lake Pavilion for major concerts, offering a fun and safe alternative to drinking and driving. For $75, take the earlier shuttle and tailgate with food, drinks, games, and music for 3-4 hours, or leave later, skip the tailgate, and head straight into the venue for $45.

During football season, the company offers special Black and Gold tours. Matt Light, Pittsburgh’s favorite comedian, hosts these Steeler-themed, tailgate-style tours, where the hatred for Cleveland is almost as loud as the laughter.
If you like to laugh and you like Pittsburgh, don’t miss out on one of these tours. It's truly the only one of its kind here in Pittsburgh.
