Coming Up: The Next Downtown Development Activities Meeting

Written by Elisabeth Kay

In just a few weeks, on November 13th, the next Downtown Development Activities Meeting (DAM) will be held at 5:30 PM via Zoom. As a Registered Community Organization (RCO), the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) will be in attendance. These meetings are a chance to discuss developments and projects before they enter the city planning stage.

DNA is extremely proud to be an RCO, as our top priority is ensuring that developments downtown benefit residents and the wellness of the city. Sitting in on these DAM meetings will always be enlightening, as we can watch the city progress and grow into something even more beautiful!

At this upcoming DAM meeting, two projects will be discussed. The first is a modification of the exterior of the Mellon Square retail facade. The Parking Authority is planning to add bathrooms to the structure, which would require these facade changes. This structure is owned by the city.

Additionally, a project to install gateway structures in the cultural district is being proposed. Different designs and locations for these structures will be discussed, with a presentation and images provided.

DNA is excited to see the potential in these projects and what they could bring to downtown. DAMs are a key way to get DNA involved with downtown development and planning, and our role as an RCO is not one we take lightly. Downtown deserves to thrive, and we’re making sure that happens, one meeting at a time!
