Dog-Friendly Places To Visit

Looking for a spot to visit with your dog? Both Downtown and The Strip District have great pet-friendly locations to get a bite to eat.

Downtown Locations

Arepittas - 412-428 Cherry Way

(Hours- Sun: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Mon-Friday: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sat: 9 a.m.- 8 p.m.)

Want to take your pet out for authentic and tasty Venezuelan food? In the outdoor eating area, dogs are welcome to join the family fun. There are tons of delicious meals to choose from, whether vegetarian, vegan, or meat-filled.

Gasoline Street Coffee - 643 First Avenue 

(Hours- Mon-Fri: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m., Sat: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.)

Another pet-friendly space is a rustic cafe with outdoor seating. Some coffee options are available, including Macchiatos, Drip Coffee, and Lavender Love Latte. Smoothies, lemonade, frozen drinks, and pastries are also good choices.

Strip District Locations

The Dog Penn - 2614 Penn Avenue

(Hours- Mon: 4 p.m. - 10 p.m., Wed-Thurs: 4 p.m. - 10 p.m., Fri: 2 p.m. - 10 p.m., Sat: 12 p.m. - 10 p.m., Sun: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.)

Once the former Joseph Labriola Sausage Factory, this is one of the most unique places you can go to in the area. The Dog Penn is a dog park and a bar. Dogs can run around in a safe outdoor space while people relax inside with a drink and have some great conversations. Several of the drinks are dog-named, such as the Chai Doggie and the Atomic Dog.

The James Cafe - 2550 Smallman St

(Hours- Mon-Fri: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., Sat-Sun: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.)

Coffee, tea, food, and pup cups are all you need for breakfast or lunchtime. Dogs who are on their best behavior are welcome inside and outside. The vast menu includes hot drinks, cold drinks, smoothies, pastries, bagels & sandwiches, toasts, and snacks to savor.

DiAnoia’s Eatery - 2549 Penn Avenue

(Hours- Tue-Thurs: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., Fri-Sat: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Sun: 3 p.m. - 8 p.m.)

This family-owned restaurant is a quick breakfast spot or a place to sit down and live in the moment with friends. Relax with your pup on the sidewalk patio while you enjoy some flavorful Italian food. A delectable restaurant where everyone can enjoy specialty cocktails, coffee, wine, or a meal of one’s choosing. The house-made pasta sounds specifically appetizing, with the gnocchi and meatballs.
