The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra welcomes you to Heinz Hall to enjoy the performance of a lifetime. Composed of some of the world’s greatest musicians and conductors, the orchestra has prepared several sensational concerts for the coming weeks. 

February 20-21, 7:30pm, February 22, 2:30pm

Known for its striking melodies and profound stillness, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8 is a powerful, thrilling work that is recognized as creating a “cathedral of sound.”

February 27-28, 7:30pm, March 1, 2:30pm

American Landscapes celebrates America’s 250th birthday with music that embodies the nation’s heart and soul, including selections from Sousa, Gershwin, the Mississippi Delta, and more.

February 28, 11:15am

American Tunes asks children and families to join the orchestra in celebrating music that has shaped the United States, from folk to Motown to Jazz to Gospel. Guests are encouraged to clap, sing, and dance along to these American classics.

March 6, 7:30pm, March 8, 2:30pm

World-famous pianist Emanuel Ax joins the orchestra in performing Brahm’s Piano Concerto No. 1, one of Brahm’s most expressive and personal works. 

March 13-14, 7:30pm, March 15, 2:30pm

Known for its electrifying and emotional power, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection” captivates audiences as it showcases humanity’s search for the meaning of life and death.

March 21, 7:30pm 

In combination with Mississippi Delta Blues and symphony orchestration, cinema icon Morgan Freeman voices a musical journey of sound and culture that weaves together the history of the Blues with orchestral music. 

March 22, 1pm

Geared towards children aged 18 months or older, Peppa Pig: My First Concert, presents an interactive experience for children to learn about instruments and sounds. The program includes musical hits from the show with the chance to make music of your own.

March 27-28 7:30pm, March 29 2:30pm

Closing out the month, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Erocia” is a revolutionary work that bends the rules of music in a unique way while displaying themes of heroism.
