Walk Down Wood!
Written by Elisabeth Kay
Pittsburgh is a city with one of the richest histories, and you’ll never be able to finish taking it all in. A street you walk down everyday might have uncovered history you’ve never imagined– but the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation is here to showcase the hidden history that lives among us.
On August 22nd from 10-11:30 AM, join the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation for a guided tour of Wood Street. Tickets for this tour are $25 and there are only 20 spots, so be sure to reserve yours fast! You’ll walk through Wood Street's history from when it was a wharf on the Monongahela, to now being the home of an art gallery and booming universities. Buy your ticket and meet outside Point Park University’s Center for Media Innovation to become a little bit more of a Pittsburgh scholar!
Be sure to check out the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation for upcoming walking tours and other events that showcase the history downtown Pittsburgh has to offer. You never know where you might be standing downtown, and who or what stood there before you!
