New Downtown Business: Keeta’s Pet Salon Grand Opening!
Written by Elisabeth Kay
On Tuesday, November 11th, the Downtown Neighbor’s Alliance (DNA) welcomed a new, locally owned business to downtown Pittsburgh, and it’s one downtown residents have been needing for a while: a pet salon! Keeta’s Pet Salon is located on 947 Liberty Avenue, and is welcoming appointments now.
As part of our Liberty Avenue project, DNA is placing a huge focus on retail recruitment to bring more local businesses into downtown Pittsburgh. This summer, Sakina Mammadova, an urban planning intern, found Keeta’s Pet Salon in Squirrel Hill. She led the progress to bring Keeta’s downtown, to its new home, now open to the public!

The location is super accessible, being directly behind the Liberty Avenue Musicians, which are three fifteen-foot-tall sculptures installed by artist James Simon. Keeta’s also offers a small front yard for dogs and owners to wait in or sit in before or after grooming. Accessibility and care for your dogs is not being overlooked, and we’re so excited to provide Keeta’s to downtown residents.

The ribbon cutting ceremony welcomed the owner, Monique Gillespie, and her family and coworkers, as well as residents, DNA’s Executive Director John Valentine, Business Development Director Kiki Yan, Mayor Ed Gainey, and Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP)’s Economic Development Director Catie Irvin. It was a wonderful ceremony, fostering hope for downtown Pittsburgh’s community and retail future!
The salon has state of the art grooming stations and sinks, ensuring your dogs get only the best service downtown. The staff is more than excited to help your pets get the grooming they deserve, and DNA is so proud to bring such an amazing business downtown. If you have pets, make sure they get the quality treatment they deserve at Keeta’s Pet Salon.
