Parking Downtown–A Nightmare Made Easier
Written by Madeline Milchman
While parking Downtown can sometimes be an expensive hassle, there are resources that make it more convenient to find the best, most affordable options for you.
The Park PGH app shows parking garages in list and map views, noting how many spots are available in real-time. It also lists rates for hourly parking, overnight, weekends, and events. However, we’ve done most of the research for you, picking out the cheapest options.
The cheapest garages on weekdays before 4pm include:
Less than 6 hours:
350 Oliver Garage: $6 for 0-2hrs and $10 for 3-4hrs
Grant St Center: $6 for 0-2hrs, $8 for 3-4hrs, and $10 for 5-6hrs
More than 6 hours:
Convention Center Garage: $16 for 8-15 hours
Ft Duquesne and Sixth Garage: $16 for over 4 hours
Grant St Center Garage: $13 for over 6 hrs
Wood-Allies Garage: $16 for 24
The cheapest garages on weekends and weekdays after 4:00-4:30pm include:
Manor Garage: $5 weekends and weekdays after 4:30pm
Oliver Garage and Etage Garage: $5 weekends and weekdays after 4pm
First Avenue Garage, Grant St Center Garage, Third Avenue Garage, and Wood-Allies Garage: $6 weekends and weekdays after 4pm
If you can find a spot on the street, metered parking is the cheapest option of all. Prices range during the day, but it is free on weekdays after 6pm and weekends. It is now made easier with the Go Mobile Pittsburgh app, which allows you to pay for metered parking from anywhere. If your dinner is running late or you haven’t gotten enough of Downtown yet, you can use your phone to extend your parking.
Depending on your itinerary in Downtown, parking validation is sometimes available. Before going to a store or restaurant, look online or call to ask about parking. Restaurants like Fogo de Chão and stores like Larrimor’s and Target give discounted or free parking with a purchase.
