Downtown Pittsburgh’s biggest New Years event is back to ring in 2026– First Night is back in the Cultural District this New Years Eve! Starting at 7 PM, the 32nd Annual First Night is brought to you by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. The event will have family-friendly activities, amazing live performances, and so much more fun!
Self Driving Cars to Take Pittsburgh Streets
Pittsburgh is constantly looking– and driving– toward the future, and one way of doing that is introducing Waymo to the city. Waymo, which was founded in 2009 under a different name, has been introduced in multiple cities, and Pittsburgh is the next on its list. The self-driving car service is excited to explore the Steel City.
Downtown Bookstore Grand Opening
Local media store Amazing Books and Records is opening its third location downtown on November 5, 2025. With two stores currently operating in Squirrel Hill and Shadyside, this shop offers a wide range of secondhand books, records, DVDs, and other forms of physical media.

Pittsburgh City Council Grants Three Sisters Bridges Historic Designation
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Pittsburgh City Council unanimously granted a historic designation to the city’s Three Sister Bridges. Named after Pittsburgh icons Roberto Clemente, Andy Warhol, and Rachel Carson, these are the only known trio of identical self-anchored suspension bridges in the world.

This weekend, Saturday, October 25, 2025, The Downtown Neighbors Alliance’s Living Well Initiative will kick off its Walking Club! As part of this initiative, the walking club encourages regular exercise and community-building activities in the downtown area. This past week, The International Events & Festivals Association (IFEA) held their 70th Anniversary Convention and Expo, in which they designated five United States municipalities for their premier events and festivals.
