The Downtown Neighbors Alliance is proud to announce that after a year of hard work and recruitment, we have secured a new grocery store for the Golden Triangle. DNA is making residents of downtown Pittsburgh’s dreams finally come true, as the opening of the grocery store will be at 817 Liberty Avenue. 

On Tuesday, July 15, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance officially launched the Living Well Initiative (LWI) with an inspiring kickoff event at the UFC Wellness Facility. The evening was a vibrant celebration of community, wellness, and a shared vision for a healthier Downtown Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) is bringing back the Peoples Gas Holiday Market™ for its 14th season this November, celebrating the sights, sounds, and spirit of the holidays in Downtown.

A piece of Japanese culture is coming straight to the heart of Pittsburgh this weekend: Tekko, an annual Anime Convention, is making its comeback from July 17-20 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, and it’s something you do not want to miss. 

Downtown Pittsburgh isn’t just a concrete jungle. Green spaces exist in almost every sector of The Golden Triangle, whether it’s a smaller square with a couple benches or a busy park that overlooks the conjoining of rivers, there’s a place for everyone to splay out on the green and soak in the sun.

On April 10th, 1845, The Great Fire of Pittsburgh swept through Downtown Pittsburgh, destroying 982 buildings in its wake. The Bank of Pittsburgh was one of the few buildings that still stood, though its insides were destroyed. Many Pittsburghers were left homeless, but the city recovered quickly thanks to the grace and hospitality of its people.

Heinz Hall in Downtown Pittsburgh is home to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, two time Grammy Award winners. Downtown Pittsburgh is lucky to have artistic excellence right in the heart of our city, you cannot miss it. The orchestra will be performing every weekend in June and certain weekdays. Picklesburgh is celebrating its 10th anniversary on the iconic Sister Bridges, the Andy Warhol and Roberto Clemente, and spreading across Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Market Square, and beyond.

DNA’s 2025 Awards Dinner was a special night thanks to the nearly 400 attendees. This annual dinner is all about celebrating Downtown Pittsburgh. It is a time to join together and toast to all the progress that has been made in the region this year.

ASCEND is PPU Pittsburgh Playhouse’s upcoming production series featuring breathtaking visual and aural artistry. Audiences can look forward to enchanting projections, music, dance, and aerialist performances. A fusion of STEM and art, ASCEND will offer a unique interactive experience for all audiences. ASCEND homes in on universal themes such as humanity and the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water. Over 20 marvelous performances of ASCEND will take place between April 24 and May 18, 2025, at the Pittsburgh Playhouse Highmark Theater. You can grab your tickets now on the Playhouse website.

The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is hosting a new three-week festival in Market Square this month. 

The Thaw has two weeks left and welcomes in spring by celebrating the city’s arts and culture scene, toasted with some St. Patrick’s festivities. A fixture each weekend will be The Lounge, which will host drag shows, pub trivia, an Irish pub experience and more. And highlighting the opening of the third weekend will be the ceremonial burning of a snowman to officially say goodbye to winter.

Over the past two years, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) has played a crucial role in revitalizing Downtown Pittsburgh’s retail landscape. In 2023 and 2024 alone, DNA assisted in opening 39 retail establishments, and our efforts continue into 2025. Through persistent outreach: making phone calls, recruiting new businesses, and collaborating with commercial realtors, we have been able to drive meaningful change. The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership has recognized our impact and has now agreed to commit $50,000 per year for a minimum of five years to support our retail recruitment efforts, with the potential for renewal.

The Warren Bar and Burrow, located at 245 7th St, is a neighborhood favorite featuring craft cocktails, a warm atmosphere, and a diverse menu ranging from fried finger foods to sushi rolls. They’re open from 5 pm (or 4 pm on weekends) to 2 am every day.
