Celebrate Valentine’s Day With These Downtown Experiences

Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is coming up fast, but you may be struggling to find something to do with your loved one. Luckily, there are many unique experiences starting the week of Valentine’s Day. From restaurants to workshops to musical experiences, Downtown is the place to be for romantic events that are sure to impress.

Kick off Valentine’s Day early with Con Alma’s Valentine’s Cocktail Class on Sunday, February 8th, from 2:30–4:00 PM. Learn to craft two lovely drinks, enjoy some appetizers, and walk out with a gift of their feature cocktail syrup to continue your bartending education. Tickets are available to purchase here.

For another pre-Valentine’s date to get the weekend rolling, PAIR is hosting a charcuterie workshop on Feb 12th. Learn how to build a 12-inch charcuterie board, and enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks.

Have fun all day with Couple’s Ice Skating at UPMC Rink at PPG Place. With their Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Special, buy one admission and get the second half off! The rink will also be lit up pink, making it the perfect backdrop for pictures.

Valentine’s Day dinner reservations book up fast, but there are still some great restaurants with spots open. The Rebel Room at 405 Wood St serves up classic American fare with lots of drink options. I also love Yuzu Bar & Kitchen, which serves Asian fusion dishes and fun cocktails—even a sake flight! For Mexican street fare and over 100 tequilas and whiskeys, go to Bakersfield on Penn Ave.

For entertainment, the Greer Cabaret Theater is putting a twist on a Shakespeare classic. Romero & Juliet is a zombie rock musical, setting the tragedies of our favorite star-crossed lovers to 80s-inspired music. It sounds very unique and is a great way to spend your evening.

If you’re looking for a more classic evening experience, check out Allegheny HYP Club’s Valentine’s Day Dessert and Jazz Experience. Enjoy the Club’s vintage lounge feel and listen to tunes by The Jazz Trio. Couples will receive a personal dessert platter and two tickets for a free drink of their choice.
