Pittsburgh: A World Festival & Event City
Written by Elisabeth Kay
This past week, The International Events & Festivals Association (IFEA) held their 70th Anniversary Convention and Expo, in which they designated five United States municipalities for their premier events and festivals. The city of Pittsburgh– the place we’re lucky enough to call home– was awarded one of these five designations, which The City of Pittsburgh and VisitPittsburgh announced following the Convention and Expo.
The more time you spend downtown, the more you realize there is always something to do. With bigger festivals like Picklesburgh, or the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival we celebrated last weekend, there’s never a dull moment in the Golden Triangle.
These events were taken into consideration when judging, and clearly spoke for themselves. The crowds they draw, economic impact, commitment, and so much more are a true testimony to the love people have for coming downtown and engaging in things they love.
Other cities with this designation are cities such as Dublin, Rotterdam, and Kailua Village, and we think Pittsburgh fits right in. Let that Pittsburgh pride show, as our city proves time and again how great it is!
