The Return To Downtown: Retail Recruitment in The Golden Triangle

Written by Viktoria Sako

Committed to creating a distinct urban ambiance in the heart of our city, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) has successfully recruited and opened 29 retail businesses across downtown over the past two years, with only more to come in 2025.

Our team has led several outreach missions, contacting and meeting with businesses in the greater Pittsburgh area to bring new faces and experiences downtown. To breathe new life into our city, DNA is committed to bringing an array of new retail stores, restaurants, and cafés to form a unique urban landscape that draws Pittsburgh residents to the Golden Triangle.

This initiative, funded by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP), allots DNA $50,000 per year, for a minimum of five years with the possibility of renewal, to be spent on recruiting businesses and filling vacancies.

We have a vision to transform Downtown Pittsburgh into a thriving urban village that not only provides downtowners with one-of-a-kind stores and experiences but also promises the revitalization of our downtown sphere. DNA is prioritizing the recruitment of minority-owned retail stores, with our primary goals being job creation and wealth-building in minority communities.

Committed to connecting Pittsburghers to the core of their city, our team at DNA is looking forward to future downtown retail and business growth. Working with our partners, participating in active community outreach, and growing our financial incentives will further propel this project forward and foster a diverse community in the heart of our city.
