Take The Leap and Support A Cause: Over the Edge Campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh

Looking for a daring challenge while supporting a great cause? The 2nd Annual Over the Edge rappelling event is happening this April 11th at 9am-5pm. The event is organized by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh (BBBS), and all money raised supports local children in their mentorship programs.

The event is being held at 625 Liberty Avenue, and participants will be rappelling down 21 stories of the Highwoods building. Everyone is encouraged to participate, regardless of experience or training. Technicians will be available to provide any training and support you may need.

It’s $50 to register for this event and participants must raise $1500 in donations by April 10th to reserve their rappelling spot. This is a great opportunity for companies, friends, or family to support BBBS in such an action-packed way.

Over the Edge is available to all ages, although anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian's signature on the waiver. For safety reasons, rappellers must weigh between 100 and 300 pounds. BBBS will provide all participants with a helmet, a full body harness, gloves, and a radio. It is recommended that you wear sneakers and well-fitted clothing and that you tie your hair back before taking the leap. High heels, clothing with drawstrings, jewelry, and loose objects are not permitted on the roof and must be left with a staff member when rappelling. 

Even if you’re not interested in rappelling, you can still be a part of the fun! The event will also have delicious food, fun games, and lively activities for guests as they cheer on the rappellers from the ground. You can also donate to the campaign by clicking here.
