The Sweetest Dessert Spots Downtown
Written by Willow Shedlock
Our Downtown is home to many restaurants and bakeries. So if you are craving a sweet treat, these are the places to go for sugary desserts!
Who said dessert can only be enjoyed at night? This French bakery is open from 8 to 5 pm on weekdays and 8:30-2:30 pm on weekends. For a little taste of France, try their Éclair au Chocolat, Macarons aux Fruits, Marquise, Tarte au Citron, Madeleines, Madeleines au Chocolat, Opera cake, Chou à la Crème, and my personal favorite, their Tarte aux Framboises!

This high-end wine and dessert bar is the perfect place for a nice glass of world-class wine and carefully curated desserts! Whisper focuses on a mysterious, intimate atmosphere where you can be immersed in a luxurious, distinctive experience. Their desserts include Midnight Dream, a flourless chocolate cake with cocoa nibs, and port zabaglione; Cocoa Rouge, which is chocolate orange sorbetto, raspberry coulis, fried almonds, and cocoa nibs; and so much more!

Both a classic dessert and a Pittsburgh treat, Millie’s has a wide variety of ice cream flavors for you to choose from! Their 2026 spring collection includes Lemon Drop, Shirley Temple, Sour Blue Razzberry, Cranberry Crumble, and dairy-free Pina Colada!

For a mixture of good food, sports entertainment, and fun vibes, head down to Redbeard’s Sports Bar & Grill! Redbeard’s has wings, sandwiches, entrees, burgers, and salads, though they also have two delicious desserts! The Salted Caramel Cookie, a baked to order salted caramel cookie topped with ice cream and caramel sauce. The Cookie Monster, chocolate chip cookie crumbs infused with vanilla ice cream/whipped cream, topped with chocolate syrup and a mint leaf.

Found in Market Square, this authentic Mexican restaurant is the perfect spot for Enchiladas (I personally recommend them!) and tasty margaritas! For desserts, Las Velas has Sopapillas (fried tortilla doused with honey and topped with vanilla ice cream), Fried Ice Cream (coated in a sweet crunch, drizzled with either chocolate, honey, or caramel), Flan, Churro Bites, and Cheesecake Burrito.
