🍜 Vendor Reveal: Meet the First Flavors
Written by Elisabeth Kay and Christine Julia Dingzon
Have a taste for something outside of the United States? Luckily, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) is bringing StrEAT Fest back to downtown, and it’s less than a month away! We have amazing vendors whose delicious food isn’t just out of this country– it’s out of this world.
🇮🇳🥘 Tandoori Tales:
Tandoori Tales is bringing authentic Indian cuisine that’s sure to make a lasting impression on your taste buds and leave you wanting more. Having just opened in downtown Pittsburgh this past July, they’re excited to share the “rich heritage of Indian cuisine” with the city. With bold flavors and freshly reimagined classics, Tandoori Tales is ready to delight festival goers at this year’s StrEAT Festival!
🇦🇷🫑 Mi Empanada:
Leave your passport at home and experience delicious Argentine cuisine in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh when you visit Mi Empanada’s tent! They offer both traditional Argentine flavors and flavors unique only to them, such as a Buffalo Chicken Empanada. Since opening in 2020 as the first empanada house in Pittsburgh, Mi Empanada has aimed to share the flavors of Argentina using high-quality ingredients. Stop by their booth at the festival and fall in love with a delicious flavor.
🇵🇭🦐 Modern Filipino Cuisine:
Modern Filipino Cuisine brings a piece of Southeast Asia straight to Pittsburgh with their flavorful dishes! Owners Sarah and Claudine are excited to share Filipino cuisine with Pittsburghers. Since Filipino food is not commonly seen in the city, they run a ghost kitchen online through partnered delivery platforms. At the festival, they aim to cater to everyone’s taste buds and “approach it in a modernized way, but still with a Filipino approach.” Modern Filipino Cuisine plans to serve spring rolls, pancit (noodles), and other freshly prepared dishes, made with high-quality ingredients! Be on the lookout for the aromas and flavors that make their cuisine so special.
🇮🇹🍕 Papa J’s:
If you’re in the need for comfort food, Papa J’s tent is the place to be. Their variety of homemade Italian dishes are sure to make your mouth water and your stomach very, very happy. Papa J’s has been around since 1987, bringing decades of experience and authentic flavors to every dish. At StrEAT Fest, you can enjoy classic favorites made with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes, all prepared with love, which is truly perfect for a warm meal while exploring the festival!

Craving bold flavors and expertly prepared meats? Fogo de Chão brings the authentic Brazilian churrasco experience to the festival. Known for their fire-roasted cuts and vibrant flavors, Fogo de Chão promises a taste of Brazil that’s both exciting and satisfying! Originating in Brazil and quickly becoming a flavorful sensation around the nation, they combine traditional cooking techniques with fine ingredients to create dishes full of flavor and flair.
