Villa Reale: Food and Family Since 1976
Written by Elisabeth Kay
Downtown has countless pizzerias to choose from if you’re looking for a quick bite. But one pizzeria is guaranteed to give you a delicious platter of food and so much more: the feeling of family, comfort and cleanliness in an old school Italian pizzeria setting. That pizzeria is located on Smithfield street, and it’s Villa Reale.

This quaint pizzeria is tucked on Smithfield Street, but it’s hard to miss: The Two Andy’s, an iconic Pittsburgh mural which depicts both Andy Warhol and Andrew Carnegie, is on the side of the building. It’s hard to miss. Make sure to snap a photo on your way in!

As soon as you walk in, the ambience makes you feel right at home, and it seems as though it hasn’t changed since the last time you’ve been. One of the staff members tells me about a customer last week who hadn’t been in years, and all she had to say was: “Wow, nothing’s changed.” That’s what they strive for: a homey environment that customers can keep coming back to; and they do.
“Somebody told me yesterday that he used to come here when he was two… that was fifteen years ago,” says the manager, when talking about how the customers and staff all feel like a family. Once you come in a few times, the staff will start remembering your order, unless you decide to try something new– which, you should, because their whole menu is amazing.
Their menu is extensive and has countless Italian flavors to choose from: sandwiches, salads, pizza, and pasta that are guaranteed to bring you back. An added bonus is the price; delicious food doesn’t have to break the bank, and Villa Reale is proof of that.

Villa Reale has been serving downtown Pittsburgh since 1976 and haven’t lost their passion since. The staff feels like a family that’s excited to continue growing and welcome new customers in. Make sure Villa Reale is your next stop for all things Pizza and Italian food, and you will not be disappointed.
