A New Way to Live Fresh

Written by Elisabeth Kay

Are you sick of fast food on your lunch break? Maybe yearning to support a locally owned business in the big city? Look no further: a new, healthy spot for a quick refuel has arrived in downtown Pittsburgh, and it might be the spot you didn’t know you needed.

Founded by Brett and Catey Gilliam in 2019, the vision for Live Fresh was to provide a healthy option among countless fast food chains– and their vision has been brought to life as this juice bar continues to thrive in the city of Pittsburgh. Their newest location– and their newfound flagship location– is in the heart of downtown, on the ground floor of Fifth Avenue Place, where they celebrated their grand opening this past weekend.

At the soft opening event on May 29th, Brett reflects on the company’s movement into this new location. The meeting with those at Highmark and Fifth Avenue Place was so welcoming, that Brett knew he was going to call Fifth Avenue his new home. His enthusiasm for downtown never ceased, as he ended his speech beaming with his excitement to be, “part of the spearhead of the Renaissance that is coming to downtown Pittsburgh.” And then, a toast: everyone gathered was given their choice of a complimentary immunity shot, all taken together in celebration.

Live Fresh gives more than just quick bites to eat or drinks, but also serves as nutritional education. Their website provides all the information you could need about cold pressed juices, being completely transparent with their customers about what they’re getting themselves into when purchasing any of their delicacies– this is also true when looking at their menu or bottles. All of their items are made in-house, allowing customers to buy straight from the source. Additionally, you can find information on what a juice cleanse is and how to do one based on your preferences and needs. Their top priority is your top priority.

Their weekly hours are 8 AM-7 PM, Monday through Saturday, and 9 AM-4 PM on Sunday. There’s something for everyone, so find your new favorite healthy alternative right on Fifth Avenue, and celebrate a locally owned business while you're at it!
