🌼 Best Dish Spotlight: Brisket Hash & More at Sally Ann’s 🌼
Written by Zhenru Yan
Let’s just say it: Sally Ann’s knows how to feed you right. We rolled in for brunch and basically had to be rolled out—full, happy, and already planning our next visit.
Right in downtown Pittsburgh, Sally Ann’s nails balance between cozy and cool. Inside, it’s bright, cheerful, and full of good energy. Outside? Pure charm. Think floral-covered chairs, playful parasols, and a wall mural full of daisies. When the weather’s nice, dining out there feels like eating in a Pinterest board—but better, because the food is real and insanely good.

🥩 Brisket Hash – Smoky, Crispy, Creamy, Zingy. Magic.
Let’s begin at the crown jewel: that perfectly poached egg on top. You press your fork into it, and boom — golden yolk spills out like liquid sunshine, running down into everything below like a saucy little blessing.
Beneath the egg, you've got house-smoked brisket — tender, rich, with this deep woodsy flavor that says, "Yes, we actually smoked this ourselves, thanks for asking." It mingles with crispy-edged Yukon potatoes that are soft inside, pan-fried just enough to catch some golden caramelization. Add in sweet caramelized onions and bright, tender green peppers, and you’re already on cloud nine.
But they don’t stop there. A whipped béarnaise brings this airy, herby richness — think hollandaise's fancier cousin — and then the horseradish salsa verde drops in with this sharp, zesty heat that slices through the richness like a boss. Every bite is smoky, creamy, tangy, and just a little spicy. It's a dish with depth, drama, and a very sexy egg.

🍔 Drive Thru Burger – Melty, Meaty, No Notes
This isn’t a fast food burger. It’s a “how-is-this-even-legal” burger. Two ultra-savory smashed patties with crispy edges and juicy centers, hugged by gooey American cheese that melts into every crevice. Charred onions bring a smoky bite, pickles snap with tang, lettuce cools it down, and that special sauce? Think creamy, punchy, slightly sweet — like a wink from across the room. It’s messy, it’s glorious, and you will absolutely need napkins.

🧀 Cheese Grilled Cheese – Crunch, Stretch, Dip, Repeat
Five cheeses. FIVE. This isn’t a grilled cheese — it’s a dairy monument. Inside: a molten blend of cheddar, Jarlsberg, American, and fontina that’s so stretchy it practically poses for Instagram. Outside: a Parmesan-crusted bread that gives a golden crunch, the kind that makes a sound you could record as ASMR.
And the tomato bisque? It’s not an afterthought. It’s thick, velvety, tomato-forward with just a kiss of cream — the kind of soup you dunk into and suddenly forget your responsibilities.
Final verdict? Sally Ann’s is a brunch paradise. Whether you're inside enjoying the bright, fun vibe or outside soaking in that sweet daisy-decor dreamland, the food is what seals the deal. Every dish we tried was a knockout—bold flavors, perfect textures, and nothing played safe (thank goodness).
So go for the brisket, fall in love with the burger, and don’t you dare skip the grilled cheese. You’ll thank us later.
