DNA’s First Walking Club was a Success!
Written by Amanda Buchman
As part of the Living Well Initiative, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) held its first Walking Club event on Saturday, October 25 and saw a great turnout. The group met in Mellon Square at 10:00 AM and embarked on a journey to see the sights of Downtown Pittsburgh.
Along the walk, participants had the opportunity to see and learn about new developments as well as longstanding landmarks. The route covered two of the Three Sisters Bridges and passed by entertainment centers such as the Benedum Center and Heinz Hall. It finished at Mellon Square Coffee, where the walkers were rewarded with tasty snacks and beverages.
Throughout the event, participants mingled and got to know one another. Kiki Yan, DNA’s Business Manager, called the Walking Club “a great way for downtown residents to get light exercise and meet new friends.”
One of DNA’s event planning interns, Amanda Yu, also went on the walk. “As someone who’s relatively new to Pittsburgh, it was great to be able to explore the downtown area with other residents,” she said. “I felt like part of the community.”
The Living Well Initiative always welcomes newcomers. To help us improve, we’d love for you to fill out this survey. We hope to see you at our next event!
