Stepping Up: Pittsburgh’s Juneteenth Grand Jubilee Parade Marches Downtown

Written by Grace Regan

Pittsburgh’s annual commemoration of Juneteenth kicks off June 19th-22nd with a weekend full of free activities, music, and celebration around the Pittsburgh area.

A highlight of the Juneteenth celebration is its lively annual parade.

The much anticipated Grand Jubilee Parade kicks off on June 21st at 11 am-1 pm, taking over Centre Avenue, Fifth Avenue, and Liberty Avenue with a movement of steppers, dancers, horses, and community groups bringing all the energy.

The parade celebrates the ratification of the 15th Amendment, giving black men the right to vote in 1870, marking a historical step forward for the Black community.

Don’t miss your chance to celebrate the progress made and fight for the work that still needs to be done.
