Written by Grace Regan

Are you looking to escape your office during your break? Downtown has a lot to offer, from restaurants and green spaces to cultural staples that can bring brightness to your workday.

For an afternoon pick-me-up, Nicholas Coffee serves up some of the highest-quality coffee in Pittsburgh. Located in Market Square, Downtown’s Piazza feels like its own area.

For a comforting meal, Alta Via in Market Square specializes in Italian cuisine with a sleek modern interior. Alta Via also has an outdoor porch area to dine, perfect during these summer months.

If you’re looking to take a stroll and get some fresh air during your break, Point State Park, known as the Point, is a 36-acre green space where the three rivers converge. Known for its fountain and open lawns, it’s perfect for a peaceful break as you look out to the waterfront.

A new addition to the Pittsburgh scene is Shore Thing. It’s a brand‑new floating platform on the Allegheny River.  It’s a unique spot for a relaxing drink, snack, or enjoying a riverside vibe.  Shore Thing is located between the Roberto Clemente Bridge and the Andy Warhol Bridge.

Pittsburgh's diverse landscape offers much to its Downtown workers, so get the most out of Pittsburgh and enjoy your break!
