PNC Office Mandate
Written by Allison Bridgwater
For those working at PNC Bank, are you ready to return to the office five days a week beginning May 4th? Instead of a flexible hybrid or remote job, CEO and Chairman Bill Demchak clearly implemented the necessity for in-person teamwork and connection.
PNC Bank’s headquarters are located in Downtown Pittsburgh, but it also operates in several states. As more hybrid and remote job opportunities have increased during the COVID-19 Pandemic, it made sense for PNC Bank to shift to a more accommodating work-life balance. Evidently, the company prefers to return to working in the offices rather than working behind a screen.
PNC’s CEO confirmed this news for workers on January 14th. While being in the office in person may drive more retention, focus, and a relationship-driven workday, it certainly throws employees for a loop as they modify their daily schedules and try to accommodate any complex situations.
Most corporations still allow their workforce to collaborate from home or come in a few days a week, so some of PNC’s staff could have a hard time with such a change, trying to adjust back to face-to-face duties while balancing their personal lives.
On the other hand, many people might be overjoyed with PNC Bank’s decision to return to its original full-time work plan. Working physically in the office creates opportunities for connection, innovation, and growth both for the individual and the company.
When the time comes for this new policy to be enacted, there may be changes from the company and workers that need to be addressed, but hopefully, all goes well. For employees who require help with any remaining questions, PNC Bank has created a resources page. Since PNC Bank values teamwork, performance, and inclusion, working together with its employees will benefit everyone.
