Point Park University’s Development & Downtown Changes

Written by Elisabeth Kay

Point Park University is a staple of downtown Pittsburgh and its community. What makes Point Park so special is their commitment to not only bringing life to their university, but to downtown Pittsburgh as a whole. Their most recent development plans showcase this commitment.

Among their largest enrollment in years, Point Park University has signed a letter of intent to purchase the former YWCA building, which is located at 305 Wood Street. They have big plans to expand this building, fitting it into the vibrant city landscape. It would be turned into student housing, a student union, and spaces with quick-serve restaurants that will not only benefit students, but the entire downtown community.

The growth of downtown Pittsburgh is nonstop, and Point Park University is at the forefront of it. We look forward to seeing what developments the university plans next as their student body continues to grow and reshape downtown Pittsburgh!
