Pittsburgh’s Iconic Fountain Pauses for a Makeover

Pittsburgh’s iconic Point State Park fountain will stay dry throughout the summer of 2025 as the city prepares for major upcoming events, including the NFL Draft and the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

The closure is part of a $3.4 million renovation project focused on upgrading the park’s infrastructure and overall appearance. According to state officials, the repairs will ensure the area is in good shape to welcome visitors. The improvements will include plumbing repairs, stonework restoration, and other maintenance to make sure the fountain and surrounding areas are safe, functional, and visually appealing.

While many may be disappointed to miss the fountain this season, officials stress that this closure is temporary and much needed. Point State Park will remain open to the public during renovations, with walking trails, green space, and beautiful river views for all to enjoy!
