Tasty Treats: Bakeries in The Strip

The Strip offers a wide variety of food, drinks, entertainment, and goods, but one of the most notorious elements is when you are walking down the street and get a whiff of freshly baked bread. This delicious aroma is from the numerous bakeries that call The Strip their home.

Enrico Biscotti Co. 

This bakery is a must-see in Pittsburgh! The quaint, rustic bakery on Penn Ave and the hidden cafe provides its visitors with traditional Italian pastries, pasta, and pizza. Enrico’s lives up to its namesake with their handmade and cut biscotti bursting with flavor. Their breads are fluffy, warm, and besides their oven-baked Focaccia, are made in their wood-fired brick oven. Enrico’s also has numerous cakes and pies. Some stand out types are the Chocolate Oblivion cake, Crushed Hazelnut Ricotta cake, Ricotta pie, Mushroom pie, and Raspberry pie. Luckily, the tastiness can be made at any time because Enrico’s offers classes for making sauce, bread, Neapolitan Pizza, pie, Easter bread, holiday pie, and dinner. Classes average at $100 and can be registered for on their website.

Sumi’s Cakery

Sumi’s is my favorite bakery in The Strip! I refuse to leave The Strip until I have one of their red bean buns in my hands! They offer drinks, entrees, breads, cakes, salads, sandwiches, toasts, and bingsu. Located in Novo Food Hall, this small business is both adorable and mouthwatering. Must-haves are their Korean Rice Ball, Omurice, Red Bean Bun, Salt Bread, Green Tea Bun, Tteokbokki, Korean Street Toast, and Mango Shaved Ice. 

Mancini’s Bread Co.

Founded in 1926 in Pittsburgh by James Mancini, Mancini’s is known for their signature twist. Offering a variety of breads, dinner rolls, and sandwiches, Mancini’s is the place to be if you are a bread enjoyer! Recommended are their Paska, Salt Sticks, Twists, and Marble Rye. Enjoy the bread while it’s good because Mancini’s prides themselves on not using preservatives, which means the bread will go faster. They recommend freezing it within a day, and when you are ready to eat it again, heat it for 4-5 minutes at 400 degrees. 

Novaria Coffee Co. 

Homemade and handcrafted, Novaria brings traditional Syrian coffee and pastries to Pittsburgh. Their pastry menu includes a Cheese Danish, Za’atar Croissant, Almond Danish, Pistachio Baklava, and Muffins. Novaria also has a wide selection of smoothies, coffee, and teas, and recommends Pecan Hojicha and Syrian Coffee.
