Fill your weekend with family fun!
Written by Madeline Milchman
In need of weekend plans? We’ve got you. Here's a list of fun activities for all ages in Downtown Pittsburgh!
Check out one or more of Pittsburgh’s many museums. Whether you're into history, sports, or art, Pittsburgh has a museum for every family member. Get to know Pittsburgh’s history at Fort Pitt Museum, enjoy interactive exhibits at the Heinz History Center and Sports Museum, optical illusions at the Museum of Illusions, or engage in learning at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh.
Mellon Square is offering outdoor mini golf from 12pm-9pm for only $2 for students and players under 18 and $5 for others. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available at the bar on Friday from 4pm-9pm and Saturday and Sunday from open to close. The nine-hole course is only open for one more weekend, so be sure to check it out before it closes.

Coinciding with Mellon Park’s mini golf is a series of live music concerts. This weekend’s music is on Saturday from 11:30am-1:30pm and Sunday from 1pm-3pm. Sit and enjoy the music for free, or enjoy it as background to a competitive game of mini golf.
While outdoor mini golf and live music sounds perfect, Pittsburgh weather doesn’t always coordinate with our summer plans. If rain is the case, Puttshack has your back. This indoor mini golf course is a bit fancier, with high tech score keeping, an interactive course, and world-class food and drink.
To go beyond mini golf, amp it up at Five Iron Golf, with a real life golf-simulator. This indoor golf experience is perfect for families, whether you're an exceptional player or just looking for fun. This spot isn’t only for golf, either. Play a game of parents vs children capture the flag while snacking on wings and drinking shirley temples (for the kids) and beer (for the adults).

For the adventure seekers in your family, spend an hour or two Jet Skiing through Pittsburgh rivers with Steel City Jet Ski. Each jet ski holds 2 passengers, and drivers must be 18 or older. If the driver holds a PA boating license, they are free to roam the three rivers, but others must watch a safety video before jet-setting. To remember the experience for life, you can add on a GoPro rental and catch it all on video.
