Franco Harris’ Legacy Honored at Heinz History Center

Pittsburgh Steelers legend Franco Harris will be permanently recognized as the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum is renamed the Franco Harris Sports Museum in 2026. The announcement came on the 53rd anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, one of the NFL’s greatest plays.

“Franco inspired so many — not just on the field, but through his kindness, generosity, and leadership,” said Heinz History Center CEO Andy Masich. Harris helped the Steelers win four Super Bowls and remained a beloved figure in Pittsburgh.

“His humility and generosity made him one of the city’s most admired citizens,” said Sports Museum Director Ann Madarasz. Harris passed away on December 20, 2022, at age 72, leaving a legacy that will now be shared with future generations.
