Introducing DNA Bike Club

Written by Cassie St. John

With the weather starting to get nicer, it’s the perfect time to start biking again. This May, Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) is beginning a Biking Club that encourages residents of Downtown to join a group in biking around Downtown and beyond.

The first meeting will be happening in the month of May. This event series is planned to create an opportunity for socializing and connecting with fellow downtown residents, and add a bit more bike riding into one’s routine. Trying something new with friends is the best way to start a new routine, and doing activities together is the best way to bond. If you’d like to get into urban biking but never find an occasion or reason, this could be your chance.

Our routes are designed to be casual and beginner-friendly, taking around 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, with stops along the way for breaks and socialization. As the group rides more and as we gather more feedback, the routes will be evolving to reflect the needs of the group.

Want to ride with us but don’t own a bike? Look no further than Golden Triangle Bike Rental right in Downtown and Pittsburgh's local bikeshare service,  POGOH.com. You may also find helmet rental at Golden Triangle Bike Rental.

More details will be provided through our website and Instagram page closer to the event date. Stay tuned!

The biking club is a part of DNA’s Living Well Initiative (LWI), sponsored by UPMC, which promotes healthy living for Downtown residents. One aspect of the LWI is encouraging fitness and movement around the community and our Biking Club is one of the best ways to keep your body active!

If you’re a Downtown resident, we encourage you to join our Biking Club as a great way to join the community and keep yourself fit!
