This past Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 9 p.m., the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) hosted its second Candlelight Crescendo performance with the band Cello Fury. The concert was performed at the Pittsburgh Playhouse Theatre located at 250 Forbes Ave.

Local media store Amazing Books and Records is opening its third location downtown on November 5, 2025.  With two stores currently operating in Squirrel Hill and Shadyside, this shop offers a wide range of secondhand books, records, DVDs, and other forms of physical media.

The Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) is raising funds to upgrade the Downtown Dog Park at the base of the Rachel Carson Bridge on 9th St. and Fort Duquesne Blvd. Established in 2017, the public park has had many visitors, but a few updates would beautify the space and make it more eco-friendly.

As part of the Living Well Initiative, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) held its first Walking Club event on Saturday, October 25 and saw a great turnout. The group met in Mellon Square at 10:00 AM and embarked on a journey to see the sights of Downtown Pittsburgh.

This week, National Geographic named Pittsburgh amongst its “Best Places in the World to Travel in 2026,”  commending the city for its downtown development and diversity of neighborhoods.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Pittsburgh City Council unanimously granted a historic designation to the city’s Three Sister Bridges. Named after Pittsburgh icons Roberto Clemente, Andy Warhol, and Rachel Carson, these are the only known trio of identical self-anchored suspension bridges in the world.

Located in the Strip District at 2000 Smallman St., Kaya serves dishes inspired by the cuisine of the Caribbean, South America, and Pacific Islands. With menu icons such as the Plantain and Sweet Potato Soup, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, and Tropical Paella, Kaya has a variety of flavors for every palette.  The Downtown Neighbors Alliance’s (DNA) Business Director, Kiki Yan, visited Kaya last week to try out some of their signature dishes.

A clear indicator of the winter months approaching is the start of soup season. Whether it be a cozy vegetable bisque, hearty wonton soup, or a flavorful tom yum, downtown Pittsburgh and the Strip District offers a variety of dishes fit for the season.

The Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) has been hosting Acoustic Tuesdays performances for nearly a month now!  Packing the house nearly every week, we have welcomed some of Pittsburgh’s best underground performers, and this month is no different.  November is stacked with artists for Acoustic Tuesdays.  This week features Melina Bowser and Abby Morgan on November 4, and Bailey Rose and Luminosa on November 11, 2025.

This Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the Downtown Neighbors Alliance presents its fourth Acoustic Tuesdays concert featuring Brynn Rees and Noah Goisse.  After three packed weeks thus far, we are excited to welcome Rees and Goisse to our lineup!

In the basement of the historic Koppers Building, located at 436 Seventh Avenue, sits The Golden Triangle Barber Shop. Hailing from London, Julian Tancredi and his business partner, Belinda Tancredi, bring top tier men’s hair care to the heart of downtown.

Downtown Pittsburgh is seeing a lot of construction right now, all in preparation for the 2026 NFL Draft.  Taking place at Acrisure Stadium from April 23 to 25, 2026, this event is expected to bring in hundreds of thousands of tourists and millions of dollars in revenue.  Point State Park is undergoing renovation, Market Square is being revamped for new amenities, and a new park called Arts Landing is slated to open by next spring. 

Next weekend only, from Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 2, 2025, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre presents its production of Dracula.  Back by popular demand, the production is based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic horror novel.

In just a few weeks, on November 13th, the next Downtown Development Activities Meeting (DAM) will be held. As a Registered Community Organization (RCO), the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) will be in attendance. These meetings are a chance to discuss developments and projects before they enter the city planning stage.

Take a stroll down sixth street to Alihan’s Mediterranean Cuisine for a quick lunch break. Their $12 lunch offers a delicious mid-day break at an amazing price! Food is made from the heart, with flavor and health in mind. Quality food is their top priority, and that’s reflected in the flavors and their amazing deals!

Last Tuesday, October 14, The Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) held its second Acoustic Tuesdays event featuring local artists Oliver Hufford and Megan Paullet. Downtown residents packed the house, with close to sixty people in attendance!

Halloween is, (not so) objectively the best holiday.  You get to dress up, watch scary movies, and eat so much sugar you’re regretting it for days.  But for many people, myself included, Halloween is a month-long celebration!  And Pittsburgh knows how to deliver for the spooky season, so here are some Halloween events downtown coming this October!

For as long as she can remember, Monique Gillespie has been surrounded by animals. Her mom made sure their house was home to every kind of pet, from cats and dogs to frogs and birds. “You name it, we had it,” Monique says. But at the heart of the family was their Shar Pei, Keeta.

This weekend, Saturday, October 25, 2025, The Downtown Neighbors Alliance’s Living Well Initiative will kick off its Walking Club!  As part of this initiative, the walking club encourages regular exercise and community-building activities in the downtown area.  Helping to create another third space downtown, the DNA’s walking club is a free, all-ages, and dog-friendly group.
